TV favourites

I probably watch a bit too much netflix than what could be considered healthy. So, I’ve decided to write a post on my current favourite TV shows to share with you guys what I’ve been loving. The TV shows I enjoy at the moment vary greatly from each other as I don’t have a set taste when it comes to TV. Everything that I will be mentioning I recommend wholeheartedly as they’re amazing. The first on the list is The Good Place!!!

The Good Place:

When Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the afterlife, she’s both relieved and surprised that she’s made it into the Good Place. But it doesn’t take long for Eleanor to realize she’s there by mistake. She hides in plain sight from the Good Place’s architect Michael and his all-knowing assistant Janet. Her seemingly perfect neighbors Tahani and Jianyu and open-hearted soul mate Chidi help her realize that it’s never too late. With the help of her new friends — and a few enemies — Eleanor becomes determined to shed her old way of life in hopes of discovering a new one in the afterlife.

I was recommended to watch this TV show by one of the co-workers when I completed Brooklyn Nine Nine. I went in without reading the synopsis (as I have supplied above) and boy, was I impressed with what I got. The first thing I have to say is that I forking love the main character Eleanor (played by Kristen Bell) as her character is quite relatable in many ways. I really enjoyed watching her character develop over the two seasons and I’m excited to see what she gets up in the third season when the show comes back later on this month. The cast itself is amazing with Ted Danson as Michael, Jameela Jamil as Tahani (possibly one of my new favourite actors, she did an amazing interview recently.) William Jackson as Chidi, Manny Jacinto as Jianyu, and D’Arcy Carden as Janet. Not only is this cast very diverse, they’re also brilliant actors. This show is so amazing that I got my whole family family hooked on the show (including my dad, my mom, my fifteen year old sister, and my 26 year old brother.)

I would really recommend this show- 10/10!!

American Horror Story:

“American Horror Story” was created by the co-creators of “Glee,” but the shows have little in common besides that. The show revolves around the Harmons, a family of three, who move from Boston to Los Angeles in order to reconcile past anguish. What the Harmons don’t know is that the house they’ve moved into is haunted. But it’s not haunted by Casperesque friendly ghosts — it’s haunted by demonic creatures. The creatures have a history of not only spooking the house’s residents but also devouring them. After living in this house, family patriarch and psychiatrist, Ben, may need a shrink of his own. everyone and that is the note which I will be starting this review on. This show is gory and could be upsetting to some people. I personally loved it. With seven seasons on Netflix and the eight season currently airing on television, I would recommend this show to anyone who likes Supernatural style shows. My favourite seasons so far have been Asylum, Murder House, and Hotel. At the moment, I’m currently watching Roanoke which is season six. I’m not enjoying this season as much as I enjoyed the other seasons as it’s filmed in the style of a reality tv show which I’m not liking.

The cast is something else. Each season they take on new characters to play, with some actors like Evan Peters in season seven playing more than one role. When I first started watching this TV show, I got a little bit of a shock with all the horror the show contains. However now, I am great with the scary parts if I do say so myself. I would really recommend this show to anyone who wants to watch something different however I would like to remind readers that it is quite a gory show.

Evan Peters’ Characters season 1-7

Brooklyn Nine Nine:

Detective Jake Peralta, a talented and carefree cop with the best arrest record, has never had to follow the rules too closely or work very hard. That changes when Ray Holt, a man with a lot to prove, becomes the new commanding officer of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct. As Holt reminds Peralta to respect the badge, an extremely competitive colleague — Detective Amy Santiago — starts to close in on the hotshot cop’s arrest record. Other members of the precinct include Sgt. Terry Jeffords, a devoted family man, Detective Charles Boyle, a hard worker who idolizes Jake, and Rosa Diaz, a sexy-yet-intimidating detective. Civilian office manager Gina Linetti is tasked with cleaning up everyone’s mess, while somehow getting involved in everyone’s business.

My next favourite tv show has had quite a rocky year after being cancelled and then renewed again. Brooklyn Nine Nine is by all means my favourite comedy show. I don’t quite know if it’s the amazing cast or the storylines that I love this show for. All I know is that within an episode of watching this show, I developed a deep love for each and every character in the show. From funny Jake, to sassy Gina, to tough Rosa, to ever so serious Captain Holt, I wait impatiently for the next season of this brilliant show. With season six supposed to have eighteen episodes, I look forward for a binge session.

Even just picking a picture of the cast for this post makes me want to rewatch all five seasons again and again. From the diversity of the cast to the non-offensive nature of the jokes to the funny dialogue which isn’t corny. Another thing that I love about this show is that it doesn’t have any of the fake laughter that many shows add in the background. I can’t stand shows with such dramatic effects so I love that B99 doesn’t have it. I had to actually stop watching this show during my lunch break at work because it would genuinely cause me to laugh a lot. 100/10 would recommend.
