Diorskin Forever Foundation

I tend to have a rocky history when it comes to foundations. I have quite dry skin and it seems that no matter what I do, foundations never sit right on my T-zone. Either they stick onto the dry patches I never knew I had or the foundation goes all oily after an hour of wear – despite the fact that I don’t have oily skin. These features of my skin I have learnt over time to combat but certain foundations make it worse than ever. This means that I’m very cautious when buying a new foundation- I never want to spend money on something which will make my skin look bad.

Diorskin Forever Foundation bottle

This is why I was hesitant when trying out the Diorskin Forever Foundation. I was actually gifted this by aunt when she bought a shade too dark for herself. Now, the foundation is actually too dark for my everyday makeup so I would wear this Foundation exclusively when going out. I have to say, I absolutely adore this foundation and it is by far the best I’ve ever worn. Read on for the properties of this foundation.

Description:

Dior’s ultimate skin-perfecting 16-hour foundation that delivers medium coverage and leaves a natural-looking luminous matte finish.  Available in 24 shades for all skin types.

The description of this foundation is definitely true, it’s a very long foundation with a natural yet matte look. The only thing is that the foundation doesn’t have a good range of colour options. Even out of the twenty-four shades available, the range is best for pale toned women. Even the palest shade is too dark for my skin tone.

Dior- A limited range of colours

Makeup Finish:

Diorskin Forever Foundation is formulated to give a perfect, flawless complexion to help minimize the appearance of pores, control shine and blur imperfections for a luminous velvety matte finish that lasts all day.

This comfortable liquid foundation melts into the skin and protects with SPF 35 broad spectrum.

Application Tips:

Start with a clean, moisturized face.

Step 1: Get your skin makeup ready and extend the wear of your foundation with Diorskin Forever and Ever wear makeup primer

Step 2: Apply Diorskin Forever Foundation with a brush, makeup sponge or fingertips

Step 3:  Set complexion with Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Loose Powder by evenly applying the powder over the entire face with a kabuki brush to perfect and set the foundation.

Formula:

Diorskin Forever Foundation helps control shine and deliver perfect complexion correction with a combination of mattifying and blurring powders. It veils the skin in a flexible, comfortable formula that holds the foundation in place all day. Like a stretchy mesh built into the formula, it sets the texture and pigments, leaving skin looking flawless and feeling comfortable.

Diorskin Forever Foundation is also formulated with skincare technologies that help to improve the look of pores and refine the skin’s texture over time.

Diorskin Forever Foundation is a 2017 Allure Best of Beauty Winner

My Review:

Overall I love this foundation. I don’t usually go for matte finish Foundations due to my dry skin but this one is perfect for my skin. It leaves my skin with a great finish without making it look terrible, which is always important when going out. The long wearing nature of the foundation is also amazing as I tend to enjoy going out at 7pm and still having a flawless face at 3am. It blurs imperfections and covers my pores brilliantly like no other foundation ever has before. It is very easy to blend into my skin as well. I have never had any problems with this foundation as it’s a great product.

The coverage is medium but can be built up to full coverage if that is the finish which you’d be interested in. This foundation is very expensive at €50.50 but I tend to find it is very worth it and I’m currently thinking about repurchasing it again as I have recently run out of it. It is non-greasy and looks amazing on all skin types. I had my bottle of Diorskin for around a year before I ran out of it so it definitely lasts a long time.

You can buy this foundation Here for €50.50.

Healthy Pizza Recipe

Like a lot of people, I love pizza. But I also like to eat as healthy as I possibly can. Today for lunch I decided to make a healthy version of pizza in an attempt to see if I could eat my favourite dish without going crazy. Read on to see how I did.

The Ingredients

  • 1Tsp olive oil.
  • 1tbsp Tomato Purée
  • 1 Large wrap
  • 1 Large Tomato
  • 1 egg.

Now this dish isn’t vegan friendly due to the egg but it could be if an alternative food source is used. I also did not use any cheese in this recipe. It’s a very handy dish as it only has five ingredients and is quick to make.

The Method:

  • First of all, I preheated my oven to 180C/336F.
  • I then spread the olive oil onto the wrap evenly. Then I placed my wrap into the oven for 3 minutes approximately to heat up the wrap.
  • While my wrap was cooking, I chopped my tomato into large pieces before mixing some tomato purée into it. (If you’d prefer to chop the tomato finely you can, I was just far too lazy.)
  • I take the wrap out of the oven and spread the tomato mix all over it, although I make sure no big chunks are left in the middle of the wrap.
  • I then cracked my egg on top of the tomato.
  • I then place the wrap back into the oven and allow it to cook for ten minutes. (Alternatively you can leave it in the oven until the egg itself is set.)
  • Voila. Quick and simple, my pizza is ready!!
Healthy Pizza
Healthy Pizza

My Thoughts:

Now I know that the above picture is not the most well taken or aesthetically pleasing piece of photography. I’m not a great decorator so food I make tend to taste better than how they look. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed eating this pizza. I usually don’t like foods where tomato is the dominant taste but this time I felt like it was a nice meal. However without the egg, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the food as much as I did. I will definitely be making this dish again as it took 20 altogether to make which is perfect in my busy everyday life. I do personally prefer a dominos pizza but when trying to be healthy, I can’t really complain!!

Garnier Haul!!!

It seems that every time I walk into a store, I leave with new hair products. It’s like I say to myself “Yeah sure, I bought a new shampoo last week, but this one has coconut in it, and shampoo rotations are good for the hair.” I just can’t help it, all the colourful bottles seem to lure me in, all of them silently calling me over. The only thing is, I find hair products often to be quite disappointing. John Frieda? He could not master my frizzy mane. OXY? Yeah no, their shampoo also did little to smooth out my hair. However there are certain brands that I would take a bullet for.

Garnier.

Garnier Ultimate Blends

I love Garnier. Their hair care range is so extensive that the Ultimate Blends range has twelve different ranges within it!

From their hair masks to their hair oil, I have to call on my inner self control whenever I pass a garnier section in my local boots or Tesco. I recently bought three products from them in one go! It honestly really hard to even pick what Garnier hair range I wanted to purchase in the first place – they all smell amazing, leave my hair feeling and looking the bomb. They’re all so reasonably priced that it’s almost impossible to not buy every product which they offer. Thankfully the last time I bought a garnier haul, I was able to chose three products to buy. Wanting to treat my hair (which the summer heat has not treated well, at all!!!!), I bought a hair shower mask from their olive range, a hair oil from their argan and camellia range, and a hair balm from their argan and almond range. Picking was hard – I really wanted to also buy their oatmeal ranges heat protector cream, but, my inner self-control reasoned that buying four products was too much for one Tesco trip.

Olive Oil Hair Mask:

Mythic Olive hair mask Garnier

The first thing I want to say is that Garnier has a brilliant range of hair masks. I would buy all of them if seemed like a rational idea. However, buying more than one hair mask at any time seems a bit wasteful to me. I settled for the Mythical Olive range because of the properties it offered: for dry, brittle. The brittle part put me off a tiny bit as my hair may be dry, but it isn’t brittle. However, I love the mask.

“Intensely nourishes dried out hair without weighing it down.”

That definitely sounds like a property that I needed in a hair mask. This mask is fantastic, I leave it in my hair for five minutes before I condition, then I wash it out. It’s quick, it’s easy, and, it’s amazing. It retails at £4.99 pounds and is a bargain for the great care it gives to my hair. Another amazing thing about the garnier hair mask range is that they’re also available in sample sizes for £1, so it’s easy to test all them out to find one which suits you best!

My personal favourite hair mask is their 3 in 1 coconut mask. That mask however deserves a post of its own as it’s a 3 in 1.

The Olive mask is available for purchase here!

The Marvellous Glow Oil with Argan And Camellia Oils:

Probably the first thing to draw my eye to this oil was the fact that it offers UV protection! I always find it so easy to find products for my face with UV protection, however, finding cheap products with UV protection for hair is rare for me. This oil is a bit more expensive than the hair mask, however it’s worth the price. It has many purposes. I put some in my hair before washing to prepare my hair, and I use it after I condition on wet hair to lock in moisture. I apply it to my dry hair to liven up my hair on bad hair days. I personally don’t straighten my hair as I love my curls, but this miracle oil also offers up to 230 degrees heat protection!! As claimed by the brand, this oil adds a glowing shine to my dry hair even on its worst of days.

Camellia oils Garnier Ultimate blends

Some other things which I love about this product is that it doesn’t leave my hair greasy. I tend to find that a lot of oils leave my hair looking like I haven’t showered in days! Especially in the front of my hair. This is a feature of oils which makes me hesitate before I spend my money on them. Thankfully, this particular oil does not make my hair look greasy. I only have tried one other oil from garnier which is the coconut oil -also very good- so I can’t make a broad statement and say that all Garnier oils are like this. However this particular oil is amazing how it nourishes without leaving excess oil behind.

For anyone wanting silky, nourished hair, I would thoroughly recommend this fantastic oil. It is available for £9.99

Ultimate Blends Argan Richness Leave-in Taming Hair Cream:

I have thick, frizzy at times, curly hair. Things tends to get crazy on my between wash days. When going to work, I don’t tend to have time to shower in the morning as I have to commute using two buses. This means that I often shower at night, and, by the morning time, my hair tends to resemble a Lion’s mane. Now, I have nothing against lions, however, I don’t like it when my hair looks like one.

Argan Richness Garnier

It was for this reason that I picked up this particular hair product. The claim the bottle made that it could soften my hair while taming it, really perked my interest. This product has both Argan Oil and Almond cream in it. Paraban and silicone free with a bottle which can be recycled, this product is great. I really love leave in conditioners like this one. I tend to find that as someone with dry hair I often need more than just conditioner that I wash out. That is why this leave-in conditioner is so handy for me – it gives my hair the extra love and care that it desperately needs!

I used to have a lot of hair mousses which I recently swapped for creams like this one. While the hair mousses did great things for the appearance of my hair in the short run, leave in conditioners like the Garnier argan leave-in conditioner treat my hair better in both the short run and the long run. The cream tames my hair when I put it in but I’ve also noticed a general tamer appearance over the past few weeks that I’ve been using it. I will definitely be repurchasing it when I run out.

It is available here for £5.99!

Does anyone else like Garnier for hair products? Let me know!

My New Favourite Red Lipgloss

I know what some of you may be thinking- “Is she posting about a lipstick again?”. And the answer is yes, yes I am. (You can read my last lipstick review here!) This time I’m posting about my favourite red lipstick for going out. I tend to struggle when it comes to a bright red lip look. I tend to find that when I try to apply darker lipsticks, I suddenly become a child applying her mother’s makeup. The red goes everywhere and tends to look messy. Am I the only person who has that experience? I tend to stay away from dark lipsticks regardless because I love a nude or light pink look. So easy and simple.

However, I find red lipstick to be so sexy and empowering when done right. Recently when shopping, I picked up this little lipgloss by Cyo. I decided to try it as I had heard great things about this brand. Wanting to try it out for myself, I set out to get the perfect red pout!! I was greatly surprised too. This lipgloss cost me €6.90! This price is a bargain compared to the prices of high end products that are similar.

I was very surprised by the results that I got! The application of the lip product was very easy and didn’t go weird on the corners of my mouth like many red products tend to. I also really like the colour. It’s bright and pretty. I wore it on a night out and it lasted most of the night, despite the fact that I was drinking. I actually found this product so long lasting that its almost hard to remove! The colour also doesn’t look scary against my pale skin. That was another delight of the product. I also found that it didn’t stain my teeth which was a relief. The texture was thick and almost velvety.

Would I buy again? Yes, definitely. In fact, I want to try other colours of this product as I loved it quite a bit.

Thanks for reading!!

Urban Decay Rush Lipstick

Recently, I’ve started to love Urban Decay. My current favourite liptick is a cream one by them called Rush. I find that a nice lipstick can complete any makeup look. However, with my pale complexion I tend to be very hestitant when wearing lipstick. Bright and dark colours can easily look scary on me so I’m very comfortable with nudes and light pinks. I also tend to wear cream lipsticks over mattes due to how dry my lips can get- there is nothing worse than chapped lips.

Back in June, I tried Urban Dacays lipticks for the first time. I had gone to the store on Grafton Street (in Dublin) with one of my friends. This friend of mine is a huge Urban Decay junkie and she helped me pick out a liptick. When I first swatched Rush, I really felt like it was an easy colour for me. Something I could apply and wear with no trouble.

What is it:

Rush is part of Urban Decay’s Vice collection. It’s a creamy, pink mauve colour that has a slight sheen finish. Urban Decay’s uk site claims that the creamy Vice lipsticks has a butter blend which comforts and enhances, leaving the lips soft.

What does it look like:

Vice Lipstick comes in a modernized, luxed-up version of our original lipstick case that looked like a shotgun shell. It’s new, but speaks to our roots. The faceted gunmetal case has a gold base and debossed lettering, and our custom-designed lipstick features an embossed “UD.” We even added a shade-matched label (including the shade name and finish) to make it easy to find the right color within the depths of your bag.

What are the properties:

  • The texture is creamy and great for those with dry lips.
  • The product is long lasting.
  • The product is cruelty free.
  • The pigment and colour range is unreal.
  • It’s very easy to apply.
  • It doesn’t wash out pale skin.

With over a hundred shades to choose from, there is a lipstick from Urban Decay for every beauty obsessed person. Also, there is a vice app where you can try on different shades of Urban Decay’s lipticks to check if they’ll suit you before buying!

At €18.50 this lipstick can be seen as quite expensive but is honestly worth every penny!

What is your favourite lipstick?

September Goals 2018

Oh September, how lovely it is to see you again! Although I really enjoyed my summer, I can’t wait till the temperature drops some more and the autumn days kick in. Autumn is probably one of my favourite seasons. From Halloween to the changing of the leaves, I love it all. With University starting back up soon, I know that this month is going to be amazing but busy. I of course want to make goals for this month as I’m the type of person who needs set goals or the month flies by. Read below for this month’s goals.

University:

I’m the type of person who procrastinates a lot. It’s a bad habit which I’ve developed over the years. It’s a habit which I need to break out of. This year, my gpa score starts to actually count towards my final grade. Last year, I only needed to pass my modules, but this year, I need to actually put more work into my university work. I’m pretty good when it comes to going to lectures, so that isn’t an area that I need to work on. What I do need to do is to start my essays and projects earlier. That way I can make sure that my work is always my best. A rushed essay never guarantees a good grade so this year I hope to do my best work and get the best grades that I’m capable of getting.

I will also be going to my Uni’s resource centre for advice on how to be a better student. I’m lucky, my uni has a great resource centre. Last year, I ignored it’s presence but this year, I’m going to make the most of everything my Uni offers me. I also plan to approach my tutors more and ask them what I need to do to write the best work which I’m capable of. They correct the essays so I would love to find out what they in particular are looking for when marking. I’ve already downloaded past exam papers so I definitely plan to use them to guide me in my studies this month.

My Blog:

This month I will be putting a lot of work into my blog. Now, I know that many other blogs would probably recommend sticking to a schedule when it comes to posting but that really isn’t for me. I’ve tried in the past to set up a pattern on when I would post. It tended to put unnecessary pressure on me when I was trying to write something and I always ended up burning out, and, in the end I would abandon my blog for a further couple of months. I won’t even be trying that this month. Maybe next month if I manage to regularly post this month. I do intend to post more and most likely it will have a pattern, I’m just not going to commit myself to a pattern like “oh I’ll post every second day” when I know that in the past, this never worked for me.

I also intend to start having a monthly theme where I would write one or two posts a week on something which is important on that month. This month is obviously going to be back to school/university. While everyone posts about going back to school, my own experiences might or might not help someone. Next month I’ll be doing Halloween as I am a big fan of it (or Samhain as it’s called in Ireland.)

Social Life:

I intend to make my social life the best this month. With Uni starting back up and assignments not being due in yet, September tends to be a great month for night outs in Uni and for society events. As I’m on a society committee this year, I will have to run events every week so I will already be going to those. I plan to say yes to any nightouts which my friends propose as I don’t want to regret any untaken opportunities. Having predrinks with my friends and then going to a club is possibly one of my favourite things to do as I’ve made so many memories and taken so many pictures. Although I’m not a fresher this year, my friends want to go on the freshers nightouts so I’ll be going on a few of those too.

Fitness:

Before summer started, I had set up a regular workout cycle. I’m a big fan of pilates and yoga because I find that they work best for me (I have back issues so I can’t do running or much cardio). However when I started my summer job, I got so drained that I had very little time or energy to work out after a long workday of 9-5.30. I would get up at 6.30 am and get home at 6.30 pm after commuting. It drained me.

However now that I’ve finished up for the summer, I have a lot more free time and a lot more energy. I plan to start working out again for three or four days a week with my favourite routines. I’ll probably make a post later on this month about my favourite workout apps and my favourite routines (gotta love an all rounder which can make my abs and my thighs hurt.)

Well that was my goals for this month! Does anyone have any similar goals? Let me know!

Reboot

When I first made this blog over three years ago, I envisioned myself as the type of person who would post constantly. Naïve of me? Maybe. Now, years later, I’ve decided to try and reboot this little blog. This time, I have a goal of this blog being my creative outlet with no big goals and no big commitments. Just a nice, calm place where I can discuss interests that I have; beauty, primark hauls, travel experiences, yoga, and, cooking.

Hi, my name is Cadhla (pronounced Kylah) and welcome! On this blog, I will be sharing my travel experiences, recipes, beauty reviews, and, college guides. I’m a college undergrad studying History and Politics from Ireland.

My main goals on this site is to share information, write, and, make friends with other people on this site.

My wishlist

Hola Beauties! How are you??

It’s been quite a while since I last posted here… well I just finished my state Exams and I am officially on holidays. It’s crazy how quick my secondary school experience ended. I can’t believe that I am finally done my exams. It felt that they would never end, but they did! Now that the stress of school is over, I plan to put more posts on my blog, meaning that I may need some new products.

Since I wanted to make a fairly quick post to get my blog started up again, I decided to make a post of things that I currently have my eye on. It was my birthday a couple of weeks, so I got a good bit of money. I’m travelling to London in about three weeks so I’ll probably binge a bit when I get there. I realised after making this list, that I seem to be obsessed with Urban Decay at the moment. I can’t help it, their collection is so pretty, you know? I haven’t bought any new makeup in about six months so I definitely deserve a shopping spree – celebrating my exams ending would be a great excuse to go out shopping!

Anyways, here is my current wish list:

  • Naked Heat

The minute I saw this palette, I instantly fell in love with it. I have three naked palettes: Naked 3, Naked Smokey and Naked Basics. I love them. I have only actually ever really used Urban Decay eyeshadows but I do want to try more of their range in the future. This palette is not released at the time of writing this but I think that the colours are really pretty. It appears to be the perfect palette for the warm winter months. I will , of course, wait to purchase until it has been out a  while – I would rather read loads of reviews before throwing money down the drain.

  • Garnier Camomile face mask

Anyone who knows me will know that I adore face masks. Nothing brings me more joy than a face mask. I also love Garnier. I have tried the moisture bomb mask and loved it so imagine how excited I am to try Garnier’s new Camomile mask in the moisture bomb range. Due to the hot weather, my skin has been feeling very dry and tired so this mask looks like the perfect mask for me. The thing that I love the most about Garnier is the fact that their products are great for skin for an inexpensive price. €1.80 for this facemask. What a bargain! I have no idea when I’ll actually get to try this face mask but I am looking forward to it!

  • Naked Skin Shapeshifter

This is probably the item that I’m least likely to purchase on this list. Mainly for the reason that I’m really pale and I worry that the light shades on this contour palette will be too dark for me- it happens a lot with  things like this. This is a three-in-one complexion palette for contouring, highlighting and color-correcting. It claims to have blendable and build-able shades. I really like the look of this palette and if has great reviews on Debenhams. But for €47 I will have to try the shades out on my face before even thinking about buying it.

  • Mac Burgundy nines

In general, I think that the MAC cosmetics Nine Times palettes are gorgeous- I love the look of all of them. But there is something about the Burgundy one that really catches my eye and stands out to me. Firstly, I love the purple toned colours. I wouldn’t be a big fan of such colours but at the moment, they are really jumping out at me. I have been looking at this palette for a while now, and I definitely hope to purchase it when I’m in London. It seems to overall have great reviews with a 4/5 star rating. If I end up buying it, I’ll definitely post a review here.

  • Naked illuminated trio

Recently I have been highlight crazy and this beautiful highlighting palette by Urban Decay definitely catches my eye. It’s a limited edition trio designed to create a sophisticated, Naked shimmer. It claims to be a lightweight product with light reflecting properties. It creates an instant glow on the user’s body or face. It includes three shades: Pyrite (the gold shade), Oasis (frosted taupe), and Twilight ( iridescent pink shade) as shown in the picture above. Like many other products on this list, it has many good reviews. For €35, I really like the look of this palette and may buy if I come across it when I’m out shopping.

  • L’Oreal Pure Clay Purity mask

I already have the detox face wash and glowface wash  from this range. I love them and plan to review them sooner or later. However, recently I met up with my best friend and her skin was radiant looking. I was literally staring in awe at her skin for a good ten minutes before I finally asked her, what her skin secrets were. She laughed, and told me that it was the L’oreal purity mask. I was amazed and I knew that I need that mask. The results on her skin was out of this world. She was wearing no makeup, yet her skin looked as if it belonged to a model’s. I quickly went online and started to read reviews- her experience was not unique. The three clays and eucalyptus seem to do amazing things for the skin. I am a big fan of clay masks for my troubled T-zone. I’ll probably buy the three packet mini’s to try all three masks since I love the face wash versions.

Well beauties, that is all of my wish list for today. Other items that nearly made the cut include Too Faced “Papa don’t peach”, Urban Decay’s optical primer,  and Barry M contour cream palette.

What is on your wish list at the moment?

Thank you for reading, and until next time, C.

Kiko Contouring pencil set

Hello beauties ❤️. Today I am back with a review of one of my favourite yet least favourite highlight and contour kits. To be precise, in this kit, I love part of it – the contour stick- but I hate the other part- the highlighting stick. Now I bought this set two years ago so this is no longer available on the market, however, their new contour kit is pretty similar to this one.

I only use the bronzer crayon of this set. The highlighter crayon is the same tone as my skin tone- I am too pale for light products- so I never use it. But whenever I wore during summer time- i.e when I had more tan than usual- I always found it to be very shimmery. It had the effect of applying glitter to your face. It did not last long and I have never been impressed with the highlighting skills of this crayon. It would have been perfect as a cheekbone highlighter but it had no staying power.

This is a swatch of both crayons… Only 1 shows on my skin!

The bronzing crayon on the other hand is what I use to contour. It is easily blendable and is leaves a natural yet flawless finish. It is a great shade for my pale skin tone. It does not wash out my skin nor is it too dark. The kit I had bought was the palest they offered in the store where I bought it. I believe in the shop, they only had three shades on offer. There was probably more online.

Although this particular kit is no longer available, I am keen to try kikos new contour crayons as mine are pretty much run out of bronzer.

Thank you for reading!

Collection Pressed Powder

Hello beauties! How are you all today? Today I am back with another blog post. I have been posting quite frequently recently and I honestly feel quite proud of myself. I have always struggled to keep up a routine of posting regularly – as anyone could see based on how many posts I have each month!

Today, I have a review for one of my favourite go to products by the drugstore brand Collection. I have yet to find a product by Collection which I dislike, and better yet, most of Collections products are under a fiver! Great quality for a small cost. Makeup can often be expensive so it’s good to have brands like Collection available for times when money is low. This brand does everything a beauty lover could wish for, but today, I am writing a review on their pressed powder that I discovered a couple of weeks ago! To put it precisely, I absolutely adore it.

I am a very pale girl so often I find it hard to find products that are pale enough for my skintone, without making me look like an orange. Collection is a great range for pale girls. The powder I use is in the shade 18- Ivory. Now, I bought mine in Boots, however they no longer seem to stock it. But, Asda sells it for under two pounds.

This pressed powder is great for those who need a powder that will last throughout the day! I found that often I could go through a whole night out, and go home with my powder still intact. The powder blends into the skin very well and is not cakey at all, unlike some other powders that I have used in the past. It is particularly good for keeping my T-zone oil free while giving my face a natural look. It sets my makeup greatly. It’s superior to some other powders that I have used in the past due to it not cracking and it lasts all day for me without having to touch it up.

Overall, I really find this powder to be worth the price, and I highly recommend it to all of my readers!
