TV Shows that I am currently Obsessed With

I adore watching Netflix just like any other person. I mean, who doesn’t?

This month, I decided to try and watch more netflix before my college life became too hectic. Below are some of the shows which I watched and loved this month.

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo:

Watching Marie Kondo help people clean up their houses, has really brought me great joy this past month. I didn’t expect to enjoy this show – I mean, it’s a show about tidying up and adopting a minimalist lifestyle, I didn’t expect to enjoy watching OTHER people do that.

Yet… I did.

To the point that I started to try out Marie’s folding technique!!

When people lead busy lives, their homes sometimes become cluttered with things piling up over time. In this series, renowned tidying expert Marie Kondo tries to help folks declutter their homes — and their lives. Whether she’s helping a harried couple with young children become more organized or showing a retired couple how to reclaim their space, Kondo assists her clients in clearing out the clutter and choosing joy in a series of inspiring home makeovers.

I started to watch this show one day when I was bored. I had seen a lot of tweets about the show beforehand, but I had never thought it would be a show which I would enjoy. I was very, very wrong. I especially love watching Marie Kondo fold clothes. It’s extremely satisfying.

Peakey Blinders:

One of my favourite fictional drama series which I am enjoying at the moment is the ever so famous, Peakey Blinders. Starring Ireland’s own Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, the show follows the Shelby gang of Biringham also known as the Peakey Blinders.

Peaky blinders cast

Britain is a mixture of despair and hedonism in 1919 in the aftermath of the Great War. Returning soldiers, newly minted revolutions and criminal gangs are fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. One of the most powerful gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family. But Thomas has bigger ambitions than just running the streets. When a crate of guns goes missing, he recognizes an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but legitimate business pays better. Trying to rid Britain of its crime is Inspector Chester Campbell, who arrives from Belfast to try to achieve that goal.

Peaky Blinders Main Star Cillian Murphy

From the catchy theme song to the 1920 themed decor to the well developed, there’s lots to love. I’m currently eagerly awaiting for the next season of the show, season five, after the last season left off on quite the ending.

Dirty John:

At the moment, I’m watching Dirty John with my parents. To call this show interesting is an understatement. It is shocking and deeply fascinating to the point that I can’t help but want to rewatch the whole show again. Even more terrifying is the fact that Dirty John is based on a true crime story about a sociopath – there’s also a podcast by the same name.

The Cast of Dirty John
Debra Newell has a perfect life — from the outside — she’s successful, beautiful and lives in Newport Beach, one of California’s most desirable coastal cities. The only thing missing from her life is love, so when she meets the charismatic, handsome and charming Dr. John Meehan, she is swept off her feet in a whirlwind romance. Her daughters, Terra and Veronic, set out to prove that he’s just a conman after they are displeased at the fast-tracked relationship and decide to investigate their mother’s new beau for themselves. As Debra gets drawn deeper into his lies, the psychological manipulation has consequences for the entire family.

True Crime Story Dirty John

With a Golden Globe nomination for best performance by an actress in a mini series or motion picture made for television, this true crime drama starring the amazing Connie Britton and Eric Bana, this show is well worth the watch for anyone looking for something new to watch.

That’s my current favourite TV shows at the minute. What shows are you currently watching? Let me know!!

TV favourites

I probably watch a bit too much netflix than what could be considered healthy. So, I’ve decided to write a post on my current favourite TV shows to share with you guys what I’ve been loving. The TV shows I enjoy at the moment vary greatly from each other as I don’t have a set taste when it comes to TV. Everything that I will be mentioning I recommend wholeheartedly as they’re amazing. The first on the list is The Good Place!!!

The Good Place:

When Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the afterlife, she’s both relieved and surprised that she’s made it into the Good Place. But it doesn’t take long for Eleanor to realize she’s there by mistake. She hides in plain sight from the Good Place’s architect Michael and his all-knowing assistant Janet. Her seemingly perfect neighbors Tahani and Jianyu and open-hearted soul mate Chidi help her realize that it’s never too late. With the help of her new friends — and a few enemies — Eleanor becomes determined to shed her old way of life in hopes of discovering a new one in the afterlife.

I was recommended to watch this TV show by one of the co-workers when I completed Brooklyn Nine Nine. I went in without reading the synopsis (as I have supplied above) and boy, was I impressed with what I got. The first thing I have to say is that I forking love the main character Eleanor (played by Kristen Bell) as her character is quite relatable in many ways. I really enjoyed watching her character develop over the two seasons and I’m excited to see what she gets up in the third season when the show comes back later on this month. The cast itself is amazing with Ted Danson as Michael, Jameela Jamil as Tahani (possibly one of my new favourite actors, she did an amazing interview recently.) William Jackson as Chidi, Manny Jacinto as Jianyu, and D’Arcy Carden as Janet. Not only is this cast very diverse, they’re also brilliant actors. This show is so amazing that I got my whole family family hooked on the show (including my dad, my mom, my fifteen year old sister, and my 26 year old brother.)

I would really recommend this show- 10/10!!

American Horror Story:

“American Horror Story” was created by the co-creators of “Glee,” but the shows have little in common besides that. The show revolves around the Harmons, a family of three, who move from Boston to Los Angeles in order to reconcile past anguish. What the Harmons don’t know is that the house they’ve moved into is haunted. But it’s not haunted by Casperesque friendly ghosts — it’s haunted by demonic creatures. The creatures have a history of not only spooking the house’s residents but also devouring them. After living in this house, family patriarch and psychiatrist, Ben, may need a shrink of his own. everyone and that is the note which I will be starting this review on. This show is gory and could be upsetting to some people. I personally loved it. With seven seasons on Netflix and the eight season currently airing on television, I would recommend this show to anyone who likes Supernatural style shows. My favourite seasons so far have been Asylum, Murder House, and Hotel. At the moment, I’m currently watching Roanoke which is season six. I’m not enjoying this season as much as I enjoyed the other seasons as it’s filmed in the style of a reality tv show which I’m not liking.

The cast is something else. Each season they take on new characters to play, with some actors like Evan Peters in season seven playing more than one role. When I first started watching this TV show, I got a little bit of a shock with all the horror the show contains. However now, I am great with the scary parts if I do say so myself. I would really recommend this show to anyone who wants to watch something different however I would like to remind readers that it is quite a gory show.

Evan Peters’ Characters season 1-7

Brooklyn Nine Nine:

Detective Jake Peralta, a talented and carefree cop with the best arrest record, has never had to follow the rules too closely or work very hard. That changes when Ray Holt, a man with a lot to prove, becomes the new commanding officer of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct. As Holt reminds Peralta to respect the badge, an extremely competitive colleague — Detective Amy Santiago — starts to close in on the hotshot cop’s arrest record. Other members of the precinct include Sgt. Terry Jeffords, a devoted family man, Detective Charles Boyle, a hard worker who idolizes Jake, and Rosa Diaz, a sexy-yet-intimidating detective. Civilian office manager Gina Linetti is tasked with cleaning up everyone’s mess, while somehow getting involved in everyone’s business.

My next favourite tv show has had quite a rocky year after being cancelled and then renewed again. Brooklyn Nine Nine is by all means my favourite comedy show. I don’t quite know if it’s the amazing cast or the storylines that I love this show for. All I know is that within an episode of watching this show, I developed a deep love for each and every character in the show. From funny Jake, to sassy Gina, to tough Rosa, to ever so serious Captain Holt, I wait impatiently for the next season of this brilliant show. With season six supposed to have eighteen episodes, I look forward for a binge session.

Even just picking a picture of the cast for this post makes me want to rewatch all five seasons again and again. From the diversity of the cast to the non-offensive nature of the jokes to the funny dialogue which isn’t corny. Another thing that I love about this show is that it doesn’t have any of the fake laughter that many shows add in the background. I can’t stand shows with such dramatic effects so I love that B99 doesn’t have it. I had to actually stop watching this show during my lunch break at work because it would genuinely cause me to laugh a lot. 100/10 would recommend.
